PARKING AND DANGEROUS DRIVING

I am writing to remind everyone that there is NO PARKING FOR PARENTS ON THE SCHOOL SITE at the beginning and end of the school day. This is for the safety of all our children as there have been a couple of incidents of parents almost running in to children.

Please park at the community centre car park and take the short walk to the school. This will help to keep our children safe.

Please be aware that someone has been driving too fast along Springwood Avenue which is very concerning when there are so many young children about. The speed is 20mph at school drop off and collection times.

Please help to keep all our children safe.

Dear Parents and Carers

SUMMARY OF LOCAL AUTHORITY ACTION PLAN TO SUPPORT STAKES HILL INFANT SCHOOL

As you are aware, Stakes Hill Infant School was inspected in July 2010. In accordance with section 13(3) of the Education Act 2005, the school was judged to be performing significantly less well than it is expected to. It has therefore been given a Notice to Improve.

The school's 2 key improvement priorities are:

  1. 1.  Raise pupil's attainment so that a greater proportion of pupils reach or exceed the nationally expected levels in reading, writing and mathematics
  2. 2.  Improve planning and procedures for promoting good attendance so that attendance increases and is close to the national average by 2011.
The Local Authority supports the inspection findings and agrees with these key priorities. We will continue to work with the school to help them improve and address these priorities as quickly as possible.

This is the support that the Local Authority will offer:
How long will it take for Stakes Hill Infant School to come out of the Ofsted Notice to Improve?

Both Ofsted and the Local Authority judge that the school has the capacity to make rapid improvements in the key improvement areas. The LA's expectation is that by supporting Stakes Hill Infant School as planned in our Statement of Action and with the continued hard work of the Headteacher, staff, governors and pupils at the school, that these necessary improvements will be made by July 2011.

How much will it cost?

The Local Authority will continue to support the school throughout this period of improvement. The expected cost of supporting the school to address the priorities is £20340. This funding is being provided to the school in addition to their annual budget.

This is a summary of the Local Authority statement of action. The full statement of action is available for any parent who wishes to see it.
